1 Arrested in Shots Fired Incident in Albert Lea

(ABC 6 News) - The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office said one person has been arrested after an incident involving a rifle in Albert Lea.

According to a press release, around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, deputies and Albert Lea police responded to a call of shots fired in the vicinity of 20600 715th Ave.


The sheriff's office said two people were initially involved in an argument that progressed into a physical altercation.

The release stated 29-year-old Tyler Christensen hit the other man in the back with a shovel, then went into a building, grabbed a .22 lever action rifle and fired a shot.

Law enforcement set up a perimeter around the building until SWAT arrived.

The sheriff's office said Tyler came out of the building and was arrested without incident; he also admitted to firing the rifle to, "scare the other man into leaving."

He's facing charges of felony 2nd-degree assault, domestic assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.
