(ABC 6 News) -- A baby born prematurely, following an alleged domestic assault, has died.

According to Captain John Sherwin with the Rochester Police Department, the baby died around 7 p.m., September 24.  This, after the baby was delivered by an emergency c-section on Thursday, September 21.

On that day, around 10:30 a.m., a Rochester woman told police she woke up to her ex-boyfriend standing over her bed.  She said the man, identified by police as 20-year-old Chaz Moore, then starting yelling at her and smashed her cell phone. She said she got up and he pushed her down, before taking off.

The woman, who was 26-weeks pregnant, said she felt a pain in her stomach and then saw blood running down her leg. She contacted her mother and then drove herself to Mayo Clinic Hospital - Methodist Campus. She said doctors hooked her up to machines to check the baby's heart rate. At first the heart rate seemed ok, then it increased and then they weren't able to detect a heartbeat at all.

Doctors performed an emergency c-section. The woman told police the placenta tore, likely from when she was pushed down. The baby was on life support.

Police were called to the hospital around 4:30 p.m. At 11:40 p.m police arrested Moore at a home on the 2700 block of Marion Rd. SE.

As of last week, Moore was charged with two felonies, 2nd-degree assault of an unborn child and 3rd-degree assault with substantial bodily harm, and two misdemeanors. No word, yet, on any additional charges Moore is facing.
